Advocacy & Collaboration
The Barnstable Ponds Coalition advocates for responsible regu-lations and policies to protect ponds, working with the Town, environmental organizations, and citizens or neighborhood groups.

Science
Pond health can be aided through water quality monitoring programs and cyanobacteria research. Our goal is to explore and evaluate emerging tech-nologies and bioremediation projects to repair pond health.

Education
We intend to inform, clarify and educate those committed to or affected by the many imminent challenges. We see an immediate need for more actions beyond those already in motion
Cyanobacteria Testing

We have concluded our first, highly successful cyanobacteria sampling project. This summer we tested numerous ponds the town does not test and had three sites test positive, which would have gone unnoticed without our work. In the next few months, we will start lining up the ponds for the 2026 season and be looking for volunteers for our testing team.
If you are interested in joining our testing team, email barnstableponds@gmail.com or call Butch Roberts at 401-439-1093.
